These Are the 10 Most Sublimely Beautiful College Campuses In America

From sculptures, to landscape, to architectural design, some of America’s college campuses have breathtaking views that are, quite simply, visually stunning.
Some of the most gorgeous college campuses outlined in this article host avant-garde textures throughout their richly decorated buildings, chapels with storied architecture, performing arts centers embracing dramatic designs, and thousands of contiguous acres embracing the purest beauty of natural forestry.
They all have one thing in common – their students, faculty, admistration, alumni, and visitors are consistently finding themselves in awe of the views offered by these 10 college campuses.
Without further delay, here are the top 10 most beautiful college campuses in the entire country.
10. Bard College – Annandale-On-Hudson, NY

Bard College is located in Annandale-On-Hudson, New York. Overlooking the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, it’s also conveniently located near the Hudson River Historic District.
Founded in 1860, the liberal arts college has 70 buildings totaling over 1 million square feet with varying architectural styles ranging from postmodern to collegiate gothic.
Given the early history of the school and nearby Hudson River estates, the beautiful landscaping and detail show how the early development and history of the college has progressed over time. Subsequent buildings would be designed by well-known architects including Vinoy, Venturi, and Frank Gehry.
Notable Building: The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts
Designed by aforementioned architect Frank Gehry, The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts is a performance hall and hub for artistic creativity. The outstanding venue, which cost about $62 million to complete, encompasses about 110,000 square feet.
With performances open to the public, programs include chamber, jazz, opera, theater, dance, orchestral and other genres. The facility is home to two theaters, four separate rehearsal spaces for music, dance and theater and the facilities utilize geothermal sources for heating and air conditioning. The New Yorker considers it one of the best concert halls in the U.S.
9. Sweet Briar College – Sweet Briar, VA

Sweet Briar College is located in Sweet Briar, Virginia. This liberal arts college is just north of Lynchburg, VA.
Set on over 3,000 acres, it sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and was founded in 1901.
Architecture for the school was completed by Ralph Adams Cram who also worked on various projects at Princeton and West Point. Sweet Briar has been designed in a colonial revival style that expertly uses architectural designs embracing arcades, brick, and balustrades.
The campus includes 21 out of 30 buildings that were designated historic districts. Almost half of the staff and faculty live on campus in private housing.
What to look for…
Amidst the backdrop of tree lined scenery, the school sits nestled in the foothills with the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains in the background. With manicured lawns, tennis courts, open air seating, and walking trails, it’s wonderful to tour the property and enjoy the distilled purity of its scenic natural settings.

I would include Judson College in Marion, AL. It’s a female liberal arts college founded in 1837.
I have been to Texas A&M and, in my opinion, it is not one of the 10 most beautiful campuses in America. Most of the buildings are a hodge-podge of different military/industrial looking architecture. Here is one example of a photo from the Texas A&M website…

I am sure those loyal to Texas A&M would disagree, but the hodge-podge industrial look is particularly uninspiring versus the classic architecture of many of the other beautiful campuses featured in the article.
